TrustBnBDocs

Install

TrustBnB will be listed on the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-ons. Until then, install it from the zip files attached to each GitHub release. Each release includes:

File For
trustbnb-<version>-chrome.zip Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Arc and other Chromium browsers
trustbnb-<version>-firefox.zip Firefox 140 or later
trustbnb-<version>-source.zip The source code and data the release was built from

Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Arc

  1. Download trustbnb-<version>-chrome.zip from the latest release.
  2. Unzip it into a folder you'll keep, for example Documents/TrustBnB. The browser runs the extension from that folder, so leave it in place.
  3. Open the extensions page: chrome://extensions in Chrome, Brave, Opera and Arc, or edge://extensions in Edge.
  4. Turn on Developer mode (top right in Chrome, left sidebar in Edge).
  5. Click Load unpacked and select the folder from step 2.
  6. Click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar and pin TrustBnB, so its popup is one click away.

Updating

Download the new release, unzip it into the same folder (replacing the old files), then click the reload arrow on TrustBnB's card in chrome://extensions. Your settings stay as they were.

Firefox

Firefox keeps only signed add-ons installed permanently. TrustBnB gets signed when it's published on Firefox Add-ons; until then you can run it as a temporary add-on:

  1. Download trustbnb-<version>-firefox.zip from the latest release.
  2. Open about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox.
  3. Click Load Temporary Add-on… and select the zip file. No need to unzip it.

A temporary add-on is removed when Firefox quits.

Firefox Developer Edition and Nightly can keep it installed: set xpinstall.signatures.required to false in about:config, rename the zip's extension from .zip to .xpi, then open about:addons, click the gear menu and choose Install Add-on From File….

Check that it works

Open any Airbnb search, for example the homes in a city you're visiting, and click the TrustBnB icon. The line at the top of the popup tells you what TrustBnB is doing on that tab:

Light Meaning
Green It's working: "12 of 14 ratings re-graded in Copenhagen".
Yellow You're on Airbnb, but nothing is being re-graded. See Troubleshooting.
Red The tab isn't an Airbnb page.

If an Airbnb tab was already open when you installed TrustBnB, opening the popup on it starts TrustBnB there. Reloading the page works too.

Uninstall

Remove it from chrome://extensions (or edge://extensions, or about:addons in Firefox). TrustBnB keeps nothing outside the browser: removing the extension removes its settings too.
